Theatre Conservatory

We officially launched our Theatre Conservatory Program in 2024

and we are so excited for you to joins us!

At Mater Dei all of our after school productions and most of our honors level courses are dual enrollment with Santa Ana College. This means students are earning college credit while at Mater Dei! If you commit to a conservatory track, you can even earn an official college certificate from Santa Ana College by the time you graduate Mater Dei at no extra cost. The Conservatory is designed to prepare students for a collegiate and/or professional career in theatre through pre-professional experiences that include training, performance, exposure to colleges, and portfolio building activities.

Yearly Commitment

  • Advising meeting with Mrs. Leal to officially declare and design your Conservatory Track
  • 1+ ACADEMIC BLOCK(s), depending on which certificate you intend to pursue
  • After school production rehearsals both semesters (schedules vary by production and role)
  • Encouraged participation in the California State Thespian Festival
  • Senior year, students will present one piece to showcase their chosen certificate (performance, technical theatre, or musical theatre) at a Conservatory Student Showcase.

Financial Commitment: Mater Dei Theatre has standard lab fees associated with certain theatre courses. After school productions also have participation fees. There is no additional cost to be on a Conservatory Track.

Suggested Skill Level: All levels welcome! These tracks are best when started as a freshmen and we expect you to grow with the program by the time you graduate.
