Welcome to Mater Dei Theatre!
2025-2026 Season theme: More than Meets the Eye
With this year's mainstage productions all weaving tales about the transformative power of love and faulty first impressions, the theatre program aims to encourage all students and patrons to not judge a book by its cover, to give grace to others as they change, and to allow love to refine us into better versions of ourselves. We encourage you to join us this year as we intentionally dig deeper and embrace our theme of "More than Meets the Eye" as we grow as individuals and as a community!
2025-26 Mainstage Theatre Performances
Mainstage productions are open to the entire student body to audition or apply for the tech crew regardless of the classes you're taking or experience. Visit our site regularly for updates on auditions and tech crew applications!

Meet our staff:
Mrs. Leal returns as our Director of Theatre Arts teaching Technical Theatre I and Honors Technical Theatre II, in addition to Theatre I, II, III, and IV. She will direct the winter play and is the producer and technical director for our fall musical and Senior Musical. She also guides our Theatre Leadership Council and Cappies Critic Team. Mrs. Leal joined the Performing Arts community at Mater Dei in the fall of 2023. She comes to us from Redlands where she lead her theatre program for two years. Before that, she lived abroad in London where she earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Essex (East 15 Acting School). Originally from Orange County, Madison has experience as a director, stage manager, designer, and actress in cities across Southern California. Her fondest performance to date was when she played Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing at Shakespeare’s Globe in London during her graduate program. Mrs. Leal is eager to continue the tradition of a thriving Theatre program and to shape our Monarchs to be brave, daring, and alive - both on and off the stage.
Mrs. Fouts continues to teach Musical Theatre I and all of our Honors Musical Theatre class-based ensembles (Bravo, Encore, and Ovation) in addition to directing the All School Musical and Senior Musical. Mrs. Fouts is a director, producer, performer, and theatre educator who has worked in schools and theaters all over Orange County. She is the founder of the Yorba Linda Spotlight Theatre where she served as Artistic Director of the organization for 14 years, producing, directing and instructing year-round seasons of productions and conservatories. Andrea has instructed in and established vocal music and theatre programs in several schools including Orange County School of the Arts, Brea Olinda School District, Orange Unified School District, Placentia-Yorba Linda School District, and Friends Christian School. Aside from directing and teaching at Mater Dei, Andrea is also currently an adjunct faculty member at Santa Ana College where she serves as a professor for the theatre department’s dual-enrollment program. Additionally, she is a private vocal coach specializing in musical theatre and audition techniques.
